Supported by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and in collaboration with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), Project ECHO is launching a National Nursing Home COVID-19 Action Network.

Our team at Oregon ECHO Network is participating in the Network as an official Training Center for nursing homes.

We aim to engage all Medicare- or Medicaid-eligible nursing facilities in Oregon to develop the capabilities to consistently implement evidence-based best practices to achieve these goals:

  1. Keep SARS-CoV-2 from entering nursing homes.
  2. Early identification of residents and staff who have been infected with SARS-CoV-2.
  3. Prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 between staff, residents, and visitors.
  4. Provide safe and appropriate care to residents with mild and asymptomatic cases of SARS-CoV-2.
  5. Ensure staff have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to implement best-practice safety measures to protect residents and themselves.
  6. Reduce social isolation for residents, families, and staff during these difficult times.

Participating Medicare- and Medicaid-eligible nursing facilities will receive federal funding to support the implementation and adoption of quality improvement practices and measures. Nursing facilities eligible to receive funding from the Provider Relief Fund (PRF) that actively participate in at least 13 of the 16 Network training sessions can receive $6,000 in compensation for participating. At least two people from each facility must participate in order to receive the funding.
